People in New England pronounce the word “card” so it sounds like “cod”. I developed a line of greeting cards based on this regionalism and called the company Cape Card. When I was approached by the director of the Marstons Mills Library to create a sign with a library cod, the idea appealed to me. After designing the hanging sign for the front and the 6×5 foot sign for the side of the building, I adapted the horizontal monogram with the international library symbol in place of the letter L as the library’s logotype.
